Vitamins for Thinning Hair

Hair has been considered a crowning glory of most individuals as it gives a person the feeling of  a good look especially if they have that shiny full volume hair. Problems arise when hair thinning comes into the picture which may lead to hair loss. This problem has been bugging most people especially the male population as this may lead to balding. However, there are vitamins for thinning hair that you may take so the thinning will be reversed and corrected.
Vitamins are essential for all organs and this includes the hair. When your hair is brittle and rough, it means that you have fewer vitamins in your body. Decreased blood circulation into the scalp may cause the hair to be brittle since the blood is the carrier of the nutrients needed for hair growth and strengthening.
The following vitamins for thinning hair should be included in the diet:
  • Vitamin B3 or niacin or what is previously called nicotinic acid is a water soluble vitamin that aids in DNA repair and energy metabolism in the cells of the scalp and hair. This also enables the vitamins to reach the scalp as it promotes good blood circulation. Foods rich in vitamin B3 are green vegetables, milk, fish, wheat germ, meat, chicken and eggs.
  • Vitamin B5 or pantothenate helps to make the hair stronger and shinier. The deficiency of this vitamin is said to contribute to scalp irritation leading to hair thinning or hair loss. Whole grains, organ meats, avocado, cheese, caviar, mushroom and bran are good sources of this vitamin.
  • Vitamin B6 or pyridoxine promotes a healthy scalp through increased blood circulation and decreased inflammation thus leading to proper hair growth. Deficiency of this vitamin may lead to dermatitis and when it occurs in the scalp, it may result to slower hair growth that may lead to hair thinning. Food sources include eggs, nuts, bran, peas, carrots, soya and yeast.
  • Vitamin B7 or biotin aids cell growth and this helps in the promotion of proper hair growth since hair is a product of rapidly dividing cells that had undergone apoptosis or programmed cell death which is then keratinized. When this vitamin is present, the hair will properly grow in no time. It is often termed as vitamin H which comes from the German word Haar which means hair. Oats, bran, pecans, walnuts, organ meats, beef, chicken, fish, egg yolk, green leafy vegetables, cauliflower, strawberries and bananas are food that contains biotin.
  • Vitamin B12 or cobalamine facilitates in the cell metabolism in the body and DNA synthesis. This vitamin is required by the hair follicle in order to properly replicate to aid in hair growth. It also aids in the formation of the red blood cells which brings essential nutrients to the scalp to enable growth of the hair and at the same time strengthening.  Eggs, milk, fish, beef, liver, fortified cereals and cheese.

These are some of the vitamins that are essential for the growth and strengthening of the hair. When you are healthy in the inside, this will show on the outside and this will include the hair. All you need to do is to incorporate these vitamins for thinning hair in your diet to bring out the best hair and to prevent hair thinning and hair loss.
